The WSI Team

Jim Reed : The Boss

IMG

Jim has a long-time affection (some call it addiction) to RC Scale Modeling. He grew up in Southern California and prefers to build his planes from scratch, based on plans, and occasionally from kits. Jim is big into both single and multi-engine airplanes and calls a number of over 100 airplanes his own.

Jim is the current Southern Scale Squadron Commander, has judged and organized many Scale events (there is not enough room for a list) and he is also nationally very active to promote RC Scale modeling. His background, experience, and interest made Jim the perfect choice to lead the WSI Team.

Mel Santmyers : The Vice Boss

Chuck Maitre : The Rule Maker

IMG

Chuck is best known for his love of WACO open cockpit biplanes. He is particularly fond of the Taperwing and the YMF-5 versions. Chuck is an avid "kit-basher-builder", a Scale Masters Team Class competitor, and he has been fortunate enough to be invited and to qualify for the USSMA Championships every year.

For many years Chuck has been involved in promoting Team Scale as an equal competitive Class besides the Expert class. In this context he was actively involved in creating and fine-tuning rules within USSMA.

Chuck is also a strong supporter of making competition easier and more attractive to modelers new to the RC Scale domain. He has pushed for new and innovative rules, such as, accepting ARFs into the fold and for standardizing maneuvers between Scale Masters, AMA, and Top Gun. Based on his solid background and understanding in creating frameworks for RC Scale competition, Chuck will be responsible for establishing fair and competitive rules for WSI events.

Adam Gelbart : The PR Man

Curtis Kitteringham : The Trophy Guy

Andreas Blaser : Web Dude

IMG

Andreas lives with his family in Redlands, CA. He and his two sons Erik and Sven are members of the MARKS club, of which Andreas is the current club president. Andreas's interests range from small electric foamies and big IMAC-sized gas models to any type of scale model airplane. His favorite aviation era spans from the time shortly before WWI to sometimes after WWII when turbines started to replace reciprocal engines.

Within WSI, Andreas is responsible for everything web and Internet related. In this function he manages the WSI web-site and assists with all computer-related tasks and issues. He is also the group's link to AMA and as such he acts as the CD during events.
